Holidays from our History

Tis the season everyone! For the next few weeks I will add a little story from our monthly letters of years gone by concerning...you guessed it - Christmas!

Check back often to see how the early members of our Congregation celebrated.

Concerning Christmas 1883 - Chicago Illinois

All the day our little crib had some visitor; our little postulants were often found near this sacred spot and we must believe that many graces were asked and recieved on that festival. The Innocent day was as memorable as ever. In the evening we were treated at the Asylum by the performance of the Pastores or Shepherds. We enjoyed it very much, though most of our Sisters could but see the motions, as the whole of it was spoken in Spanish.

On Christmas day [in San Antonio] our dear Sister St. Andrew made her profession, and Miss Ellen took the habit. You shall know her now by the name of Sister M. Josephine of the Infant Jesus.
